Our Team

Owner & Veterinarian
Michael Kendig, DVM
Dr. Michael has worked in the veterinary field since he was 14. He began cleaning cages and walking dogs in the boarding facility of a small animal clinic in Florida. He worked his way up to become a technician and then went off to vet school at Mississippi State University. He practiced for five years at that clinic before leaving Florida to purchase a clinic in southeastern Connecticut. Dr. Mike heard the mountains calling and decided to sell his practice to his associate in June of 2015 so he could have his dream of living in the mountains. He has two dogs and four cats, all rescues. Alta, Sherman, Pango, Broseph, Winter, and Sunny. He is a big supporter of rescuing and adopting animals. In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Mike enjoys distance running, weight lifting, alpine skiing, backcountry skiing, hiking, target shooting, and taking his Jeep off-road.

Patient Support
Alta Girl
Alta Girl started at the clinic in the spring of 2021, at only 4 months of age. While she doesn’t have any official certifications, she has learned on the job. Her specialties include patient recovery after anesthesia and helping anxious patients in exam rooms. She is the most eager employee at Alpine Animal Hospital and is always willing to help her fellow employees and patients. Her hobbies include running/hiking with her dad, peak bagging and spending time with her family. She also donates blood when necessary to help patients. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated little worker at the clinic.

Employee Support
Ori
Ori joined the clinic in 2023. He is originally from the streets of Utah but has enjoyed his pampered life living in the clinic. Despite the fact that he lives in a veterinary clinic, Ori does not enjoy working with animals, since they tend to chase him. Ori is very consistent at letting his technicians know that it is 5pm and that he must be fed on the dot. While living with Alpine Animal Hospital, Ori hopes to achieve his goal of getting treats whenever he wishes. In his free time, Ori likes to nap in his custom cardboard box aka his throne. Ori views all the technicians as his pets and is still working on getting them to feed him treats more often. Fun fact, Ori was cryptorchid and Dr. Mike had to do an abdominal surgery to remove a testicle that did not descend.
